Compare Decking Materials

Composite Decking

Composites are made of a blend of materials, including wood flour, wood fibers and plastic materials (either recycled or virgin). When it comes to synthetic decking, composites are on the entry-level in terms of cost.

PVC Decking

PVC decking is made of new plastic resin, because it contains no wood material, PVC resists mold and mildew better than composites. In addition, it stands up better to scratches, stains and fading. Minimal maintenance is required beyond occasional cleaning.

Capstock Decking

Capstock represents a hybrid between composite and PVC decking. Here, a composite (wood/plastic) core is wrapped with a shell of PVC (or similar) material. Capstock has the same advantages as PVC in comparison to composites. As for cost, capstock comes in lower than PVC.
